What is AWANA?

AWANA = Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed

(2 Timothy 2:15)

“Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a workman who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth."

The AWANA ministry embraces five principles:

  • AWANA is centered on the gospel
  • Scripture memory is a key element
  • AWANA is exciting and fun
  • Children are trained to serve
  • AWANA is built on volunteer leadership

AWANA and Miracle

  • Reach: It’s our desire to present the gospel to all of the children in LaVergne and surrounding communities, as well as their families.
  • Connect: Through games, songs and teamwork, we seek to provide an atmosphere where kids can realize a sense of community and love.
  • Grow: Scripture memorization is the heart of the AWANA ministry.  Children build their relationship with God through stories, songs and scripture reading. Much of this is done at home, providing the opportunity for growth to the whole family.
  • Serve: Built on volunteer leadership, AWANA provides the opportunity for many people to serve God. The curriculum emphasizes learning to serve as a child grows in his or her relationship with the Lord.
